We are looking to expand our Strategic Consulting team within the rail business. The Strategic Consulting team provides advice to public and private sector clients in the early stages of projects to shape the development and delivery of future schemes. This can be new infrastructure or changes to existing infrastructure/operations, such as TOC led investments or third party funded schemes. The group is entrepreneurial and you have the opportunity to develop new areas of work/new clients. We are looking for people who have a good understanding of multi-disciplinary rail projects, including business case, engineering and operational components. It is essential that candidates have a good understanding of the overall rail development process rather than be subject experts in one field. You must have the ability to make a difference, pro-actively manage requirements and risks and influence others to deliver successfully. Candidates must have strong technical capability and excellent communication, problem solving and project / programme management skills, be willing to take on new challenges and possess experience in the leadership and management of significant projects or programmes of work. We spend a lot of time with clients, so it is required that you can both understand the requirements clients have and the capabilities WSP has and communicate these to clients to provide them with services of value. Experience in working as a client will be beneficial in this role. You will be largely UK focused, based out of our London office. Opportunities may also arise to work in other areas of the UK and overseas. A typical week would include: management and leadership of projects within the Strategic Consulting team Understanding client requirements and key drivers/areas of value Scoping and defining the key stages of project delivery and work with technical specialists from across WSP to shape and deliver projects; Managing client/internal relationships on a project basis to ensure that requirements are understood and that the highest levels of satisfaction are maintained; WSP is one of the world's leading engineering professional services firms providing technical consultancy to the built and natural environment. We believe that for societies to thrive, we must all hold ourselves accountable for tomorrow. For us, that means creating innovative solutions to the challenges the future will bring to the communities and environments where we live and work across the UK.
