Purpose of the role: We haveSenior Technician Gas Chromatography & Wet Chemistry positions available ideally suited to candidates with science ALevels and some industry experience or for new Chemistry graduates. The Gas Chromatography role is working on days and the Wet Chemistry role is either early (6AM-2PM) or late pattern (1PM-9PM). The positions are responsible for performing a range of routine, mainly pharmacopoeia testing activities using either GC or wet chemistry techniques in the pharmaceutical laboratory to GMP quality standards. Main Responsibilities: Technical and Operational Undertake a range of routine, mainly pharmacopoeial analyses under supervision by a senior member of staff. These analyses may include the use of GC or classical analytical chemistry wet chemistry testing. Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results. Gain necessary competence in the use of the Laboratorys LIMS system to process analysis. Contribute to Mondelezs Innovation and Research projects, as required. Contribute to RSSLs Emergency Response Service (ERS). Will be expected to work in different laboratories if the demand is required. Learn and expand on analytical techniques, working as part of an efficient team. Communication & Influence Assist with client queries as appropriate and represent RSSL in a professional manner at all times. QEHS Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are read before starting work. Help maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment. Understand and work to the requirements of GMP. Ensure all training records are accurate. Know the ethical and legal compliance responsibilities of the position; raise questions and concerns when faced with an ethical or compliance issues; apply integrity in all aspects of professional conduct. These are local roles based at the RSSL site in Reading and it constitutes a support function for the Pharmaceutical laboratory. Qualifications Candidate Requirements: Knowledge: including education, qualifications and training Education to A level, preferably one of which is Chemistry, or relevant laboratory experience Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel). Skills/Leadership Competencies Listening - Meticulous attention to detail and an ability to follow written instructions. Peer Relationships - ability to work effectively as part of a team Informing - Good written and communication skills. Planning - Able to multi-task within a lab environment Personal learning demonstrates an eagerness to learn new techniques Problem solving - can see hidden problems, looks beyond the obvious and doesnt stop at the fist answers. Experience: Previous practical industry experience in an analytical laboratory. Previous experience of working to GMP. Pharmaceutical development awareness. Languages: English.
