A Claims Manager with substantial Power Plant industry experience is urgently sought to oversee a major construction project in Al Wakrah, Qatar. This key role will be to deliver the successful implementation of a 2500MW large scale power and water production facility in order to ensure that the risk exposure to the Project Company from the EPC and government entities is managed and minimised to the extent possible. This role will be a staff based position with an initial twelve month contract with the potential of an additional 6 months contract thereafter. Duties of the Claims Manager : - The role will entail significant elements of Project & Site Claim Management and Mitigation of Construction/Operational Risk upon behalf of the Company ensuring Construction/Operational Claims Costs exposure are controlled and minimised whilst providing Contracts strategy Oversight & Claim response Compliance. - The role will involve some liaison with project owner relationships with JV partners and Governmental agencies. The role may involve giving presentations or outlining to such partners and stakeholders the basis of significant claims and how to resolve them in the best interests of the SPV. - Regular attendance at project review meetings with Owner, Owners Engineer, EPC Contractor, Fuel Supplier and Offtaker will be required to raise and solve important issues during construction and commissioning to ensure project claims are minimised. - The person shall be able to examine and critically review project plans, monthly reports, vendor approvals, project procedures, QA/QC plans and method statements, testing/commissioning procedures and operational plans in order to develop critical thinking towards rejecting EPC claims. The expectation is for the role to be undertaken independently and outcomes or project directions to be explained to Senior management teams for approval to move forward. The successful Claims Manager will have the relevant experience and qualifications: - Degree qualified. - Experience of Power & Water projects worth in excess of 500million USD. - Financially and commercially literate, able to understand, interpret and implement contractual terms & conditions. - Familiar with O&M agreement principals used in major power projects and an exposure to heavy duty industrial Gas Turbine Combine Cycle Plant projects. - Previous experience of working in the Middle East region is required.
