Data Science is playing an increasing role in the competitive advantage and success of businesses, especially given the growing accessibility of machine learning and AI. The importance of access to this skill set will only continue to grow as data is created and captured in more and more areas of our life. However, many organisations do not have data in their DNA, and hence even if they could hire data scientists would not know how to manage and use them, and struggle to define a vision and strategy to build these capabilities. Hence Blenheim Chalcot is building a business consultancy that uses our data science expertise to identify and solve major problems for businesses. The Role This role is to lead our entry into this new exciting market. As GM, you will be responsible for all aspects of identifying, attacking and capturing the opportunity. Initially you will operate under the umbrella of one of our existing businesses Fospha, but as first person on the ground for this venture, you will need to rapidly develop your strategy and go to market plan to start learning. As you prove some early wins and the team grows, the expectation is that it will then create its own new company, which the successful candidate would likely lead. You will: Be accountable for understanding, incubating and building out the data science consultancy business opportunity Develop and deliver the strategy to enter the market and identify path to growth Build and own the commercial business plan, and deliver against it Lead and drive business development to understand companies' pains that data science could solve Plan with the BC Director responsible for Data, and the CEO of Fospha to layout growth plans and how to structure the teams and business to optimise growth At least initially, work closely with the teams in Fospha to ensure the development and delivery of world class work Lead on the recruitment of top talent for the business - helping identify and develop a team with the skills required to win and create a new company Be the business owner for the Blenheim Chalcot Data Science Graduate programme that develops graduates into business leading data scientists About you: A good understanding of the many elements required to create and operate a business driven by data. This may either have been as a consultant or in a business heavily working with data driven decisions. Demonstrated ability to acquire, manage and grow B2B relationships Have demonstrated a track record in developing and owning project plans to generate insight, drive change and deliver business impact Comfortable working with broad initial concepts and refining them rationally to create clear hypothesis and a plan to execute Good understanding of the commercial aspects of running a business Have the communication and people skills to be able to work with CEOs, senior management and other stakeholders Able to formulate strategic plans and mobilise teams to execute on a plan Be highly motivated and 'entrepreneurial' with a strong sense of ownership working individually as well as a part of a team Feel comfortable and able to be flexible in a dynamic environment where there is a high velocity of change that comes with the territory of early stage ventures Have a results driven, analytical approach to solving business problems Be able to quickly get up to speed and assess and distil complex situations Be able to operate at a range of levels - both in terms of big picture strategic thinking and getting into the data and analysis 8 years + experience, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Other Benefits We enjoy a smart/casual environment and our culture is inclusive, modern, friendly, smart and innovative - we seek to employ bright, positive thinking self-starters with a can-do attitude.
