Working as part of an integrated team of engineers, planners and architects you will be responsible for the planning and design of sustainable transport infrastructure, and development of transport strategies. You will have a particular focus on policy and planning associated with cycling, walking, electric vehicles and public transport. You will apply your knowledge of TfLs Healthy Streets approach and work with our landscape design team to integrate transport infrastructure within high quality public realm. In addition you will assess the transport impacts of proposed developments as part of securing planning consents for sites. You can expect to be active on a number of projects and client accounts at any given time. These can vary in both scale and nature, making the workload diverse and challenging. The position will be to support senior staff with data gathering, critical analysis and technical written input for Studies, Transport Assessments / Statements, Environmental Statements and other general transport advice on schemes. You will apply the latest technical analysis tools and models, site investigations, research and reporting and will be expected to have face-to-face client contact and wider business development exposure. Some financial management will be required on individual projects to ensure commercial success on projects. You will report to an Associate (or above), but also work closely with our dynamic team of experienced Directors, and more widely with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team of Transport Planners and Engineers. Your role may also have line management accountability and be responsible for the development of and project outputs of junior staff. This role is offering a salary of between £44K-£55K. The closing date for this role is 2nd August 2018. We are looking for someone who is keen to contribute to the development and growth of the team through business development and bidding activities. A genuine interest in transport planning and engineering is essential to ensure a close fit with our highly motivated team. You will have a relevant qualification and extensive experience of transport planning at an appropriate level. Experience in transport planning policy development, public realm design, electric vehicles, cycling schemes, public transport network planning and car parking policy is highly desirable. In addition, knowledge of relevant scheme funding mechanisms (e.g. LIPs, s106, CIL) and the principles of business case development is advantageous. The ability to work at both strategic and detailed levels is highly desirable. You will need to have strong written and spoken communication skills and be comfortable working both as part of a team or individually. Experience in stakeholder management and public consultation is essential. You will have experience in transport policy, strategy development, preliminary highway / junction design and analysis, traffic modelling software, traffic management techniques and TfL, Highways England and local authority design guidance to enable you to work effectively as part of the team. Experience in the application of TfLs strategic modelling suite and detailed modelling design / approval processes is advantageous. Experience in a range of sectors and work types would be beneficial. Ideally you will have knowledge of areas such as public transport and policies at local, regional and national level; including the London Plan and Mayors Transport Strategy. Some knowledge of Inquiry procedures would also be useful but is not essential. Chartered status or aspirations towards securing chartered or an equivalent status are a strong positive.
