Robotics and Controls Software Engineers are needed to work with one of the Premier R&D facilities in Europe 'looking at the factory of the future' the Software Engineer role will be conducting research into the most advanced Automation and Robotic systems available today with Research into new technologies, systems and technology to advance UK Manufacturing.
The Software Engineer will be developing and conducting technology trials to prove the maturity of the equipment and processes against the TRL scale. Ensure that processes to be conducted as part of the technology trials are safe and conform to the MTC's Health & Safety policies. This will require the engineer to generate Risk Assessments and Method Statements. Prepare and deliver presentations and reports detailing technology trials to both internal and external stakeholders. Play an active role in project teams. Participate in project meetings with the other contributing partners. Support proposal writing and project pricing process. Liaise with the contributing partners, sub-contract suppliers and MTC workshop technicians to deliver work packages on time and to budget.

Suited to an enthusiastic graduate engineer the applicant will join the Robotics & Autonomous Systems theme, the engineer will be responsible for the delivery of development automation equipment.
Applicants will be degree-qualified in Robotics/Controls Engineering or similar with ideally a minimum of one years' experience within manufacturing or design engineering utilising CAD. You are expected to possess experience of software development, including knowledge of OOP, design patterns and working with source control systems. Have a solid understanding of networking and communications programming is desirable. As well as Experience of programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, C/C++ is desirable and good research skills, report writing and presentation skills. Additionally, experience of ROS, microcontrollers and machine vision knowledge are also highly welcomed
