Exceptional opportunity has now arisen for a skilled Senior Engineer to join a global manufacturer as they embark on a supply chain digital transformation journey. We are now seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer ready to take on the diverse challenges of driving a more reliable, agile and efficient supply chain with material reduction in cost and service improvements. Principal Accountabilities ? Development of detailed technology strategy for all international manufacturing and supply chain operations ? Prepare business cases for investment in supply chain data capture and automation solutions, with clearly articulated and quantifiable business benefits, costs and returns on investment ? Collaborate with key business leaders and lead cross-functional engineering, manufacturing and technology teams to identify optimal data capture and automation solutions that will deliver sustainable gains in factory performance ? Lead machine and process automation development from initial conception, prototype design and pilot, managing specification, design, integration, scale-up, and transfer to manufacturing as part of a global multi-disciplinary team ? Lead requirement definition and support implementation of MES system ? Provide technical leadership in complex problem-solving scenarios with a focus on driving and implementing innovative and cost effective process automation solutions ? Support definition of new machine standards in the areas of PLC controllers, interfaces ? Post rollout of new technology solutions, drive verification and qualification of business benefits ? Work collaboratively with technology and digital teams to ensure delivered solutions are fully compatible with high levels of resilience and high availability ? Lead tender process, selection and management of external partners who will provide consultancy and the tools to achieve target levels of manufacturing data capture and automation ? Collaborating with Head of Engineering during solutions development and rollout to ensure appropriately skilled maintenance engineers in role locally to deliver break/fix maintenance and preventative maintenance ensuring minimal systems downtime ? Engineering degree with at least 10 years of experience in the MES business and a proven track record in operations leadership ? Proven track record and experience in PLC systems and digitisation of manufacturing assets ? Proven track record and experience in production automation and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems ? Experience and track record in project management and digitising manufacturing or the wider supply chain ? Good knowledge and experience of data analytics and modelling ? Demonstrated leadership skills with a strong capability to coach, motivate, lead and manage people, teams, process, and projects ? Experience of working in complex supply chains, with good understanding of pain-points ? Experience in leadership of cross functional teams and resource management to achieve goals / objectives The role itself is home based and will involve c50% international travel to sites all over the world.
