Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Supply Chain Manager / Procurement Manager for a leading precision engineering business based in Hull, Humberside, East Yorkshire region, with a long history and reputation for quality engineered products you will join a procurement function that require a strong leader.
The main purpose of the Supply Chain Manager / Procurement Manager are to review the current operating models and supply chain with the view of making commercial improvements throughout, to drive cost, quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities of the Supply Chain Manager / Procurement Manager:
•Provide leadership to develop and maintain consistent conformance to operating, quality, safety, security, and housekeeping procedures.
•Lead/support supplier negotiations and lead management meetings with all suppliers and customers.
•Work with plant management team to identify and drive operational improvements, cost reduction initiatives, process flow and inventory reduction.
•Define and drive departmental performance measures.
•Ability to balance between long term strategic focus and short term priorities based on customer needs.
•Ability to understand problems, initiate long term structured improvement projects and ensure their timely delivery.
•Driving all aspects of strategic sourcing process including but not limited to taking lead on contract negotiations of business and pricing terms and conditions, conducting research and providing benchmark data on pricing and/or other key terms and conditions, facilitating RFP's, and working with the internal business partners to develop negotiations strategies, objectives and plans.
•Work cross functionally with teams on a variety of projects.
•Deal with complex issues related to the development of new products, new suppliers, or technologies to enhance new or existing products.
•Develop, manage and implement comprehensive strategies on a national, regional and local basis in alignment with the business objectives.
•Deliver agreed savings targets.
•Have accountability for technical and quality performance through strategy development.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
•Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and related experience - MCIPS preferred
•Demonstrable track record in purchasing
•Excellent analytical skill
•Experience working in a manufacturing, heavy engineering, production environment.
•Proven ability to lead strategic sourcing and cost saving projects.
•Ensure effective communication and relationship development with cross functional teams, commercial and procurement personnel, business stakeholders and the supply base.
•Good verbal and written communication skills
